Direct sunlight exposure reduces hair cortisol levels in rhesus monkeys (Macaca mulatta)

摘要: 光照疗法能够改善季节性情感障碍(SAD)患者的症状。有研究者认为,光照可能通过改变可的松分泌的昼夜节律,从而改善SAD患者的症状。然而,另外的研究者发现,光照对可的松的昼夜节律并没有影响。因此,光照疗法不一定是通过影响可的松的昼夜节律,也很有可能是通过影响可的松的长期累积水平来减轻SAD患者的症状。为了明确自然光光照时间长短对猕猴毛发可的松累积水平的影响,本研究对长日照组和短日照组的两组猕猴的毛发可的松水平进行了比较。结果表明,短日照组猕猴的毛发可的松水平显著低于长日照组,从而明确了自然光光照时长对正常猕猴毛发可的松累积水平的影响。本研究可能有助于理解SAD中的可的松相关机制,同时有望为阐明光疗法改善SAD症状的机制提供理论依据。

Abstract: Major depressive disorder (MDD), commonly known as depression, is a mental disease characterized by a core symptom of low mood. It lasts at least two weeks (Badamasi et al., 2019 ;Wang et al., 2019 ) and is frequently accompanied by low self-esteem, loss of interest in routinely enjoyable activities, low energy, and unexplained pain (Huey et al., 2018 ;Park et al., 2012 ;Post & Warden, 2018 ;Rice et al., 2019 ;Xiao et al., 2018 ). Approximately 2%–8% of adults with MDD commit suicide (Richards & O'Hara, 2014;Strakowski & Nelson, 2015 ), and around half of suicidal individuals suffer depression or other mood disorders (Bachmann, 2018 ).-
