Abstract: Having revised literatures concerned and examined the Danios from China,the author inclines to synonimize Danioides Chu and Daniops Smith with Danio Hamilton.No matter how many subgeneric name have been proposed since Weber et Beaufort (1916),the limitations of them are getting vague with the discovery of intermediate forms.So the subdivision of the genus Danio needs to be further considered and leaves unacceptable.Six species of the genus Danio have been recognized from China,among them two species are considered to be new to science.
